Privacy & your data

Dead by Flashlight

Signing in with Google is optional, and it is used for exactly one thing: finding out which YouTube channel you are, so the mod can check whether you are a member of the project's channel and hand you a cape if you are.

What we ask Google for

One scope: youtube.readonly. It lets us read your channel's public details — its id and its name. We do not post, subscribe, comment, change anything, or read anything private.

If you are the owner of the project's own channel, signing in also asks for youtube.channel-memberships.creator. That is what makes "is this viewer a member?" answerable at all — only a creator may list their own members — and it is asked of the channel owner alone, never of a viewer.

What is stored, and where

On the project's own server, and nowhere else. Nothing is sold, shared, or sent to anybody: there is no analytics, no advertising and no third party involved beyond Google itself.

WhatWhyHow long
Your YouTube channel id and name, against your Minecraft account So a membership check knows which channel to check, and so one channel cannot claim a cape on several Minecraft accounts Until you delete it
Whether you held a membership, and for how many months The member cape has tiers, and the tier is the number of months Until you delete it
The capes that earned you So you keep them between sessions Until you delete it

What is not stored

The one exception is the project channel's OWNER, whose long-lived token is kept so membership checks can run. That is their own account's data and the button below deletes it for them like anybody else's.

Game data is separate

Your bloodpoints, perks, killers and match history are not Google's data and are not part of this. Deleting your Google data below leaves your progress alone — it only takes away the link to your channel and what that link earned you.

Delete your data

Sign in with the same Google account you used in game, and this will show you exactly what is held and delete it on the spot.

Checking…

Anything else

If you would rather ask a person, or you cannot sign in any more and still want your data gone, get in touch through the project's channel and it will be deleted by hand.
